About Bhima Kamat
Building Trust Through Food
Bhima Kamat is a trusted food company working to connect farmers and consumers through transparent, demand-driven and technology-enabled food systems.
Our work begins with understanding what consumers genuinely need and then building responsible supply chains that can consistently deliver those products without compromising on quality, farmer welfare or ecological health.
We collaborate with farmers, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Self Help Groups (SHGs) and rural entrepreneurs to create standardized processes for cultivation, processing and quality assurance. Every product we offer reflects our commitment to transparency, traceability and long-term relationships.
Rather than controlling every step of the value chain ourselves, we believe in strengthening local institutions and creating opportunities for decentralized entrepreneurship. Technology enables us to improve coordination, documentation and decision-making while keeping the farmer and the consumer at the centre of every decision.
We are building more than a food company. We are building an institution that aims to restore trust in the food we eat and the systems that produce it.
The Story Behind Our Name
Every name carries a story. Ours began long before this organization came into existence.
Bhima is the name of our village in Araria, Bihar. It is where our family’s roots lie, where generations have farmed the land, and where our journey with agriculture truly began. The name is a reminder that everything we build must remain connected to the place and the people who shaped us.
Kamat carries a meaning that reflects our philosophy.
In many Indian languages, Kaam means work—purposeful effort, craft and dedication. It also carries another meaning that is equally important to us: love. The kind of care that cannot be separated from meaningful work.
Mitti means soil.
Together, these ideas form what Bhima Kamat represents for us: work done with love, rooted in the soil.
It is more than a business name. It is a reminder that every seed we sow, every farmer we partner with, every product we make and every customer we serve should strengthen the relationship between people and the land that nourishes them.
As we grow, we hope the name comes to stand for something simple yet enduring:
Food grown with care. Work done with love. Rooted in the soil.
